1. Automated patch clamp method, named QPatch in this experiment, is an effective means to measure of voltage/current within a channel (specifically, the CRAC channel). To measure voltage levels, calcium stimulants were applied to the CRAC channel.
2. What are the primary functions of the CRAC channel? The author says it plays a role in Alzheimers and immunodeficieny disorders, but how so? Also, what are examples of disorders involving store-operated calcium channels.
3. Have any previous links been determined between immunodeficiency disorders and calcium channel dysfunction, etc? Can any other ions pass through the CRAC channel?
4. I remember studying the conventional patch clamp method in Neuroscience, can this automated one also be used to study neurons in the brain. That would be critical i think.
